DAY FOUR

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest national park – Mountain gorilla trekking experience

Today, wake up very early to get your backpack ready. Dress in long trousers, waterproof hiking shoes, a long-sleeved shirt, a waterproof jacket, and heavy-duty gloves for the mountain gorilla trekking experience, as the weather can change suddenly. After breakfast, pack a picnic lunch, meet your safari guide, and drive to the park center for a pre-trekking briefing about the rules and behavior around gorillas.

You will be in groups of eight, assigned a gorilla family to track, with guide support. The search can last from 45 minutes to 6 hours, so be prepared for a physically demanding walk. If you feel unfit, choose a nearby family; if fit, a challenging one might be more enjoyable.

During your forest walk in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, you might see various wildlife like chimpanzees, African elephants, and different birds. Your forest guide will share information about

everything you encounter to enhance your experience. When you meet your assigned mountain gorilla family, you will spend an hour with them. Keep your voice low and feel free to take photos and ask questions. Watch for Mr. Silverback, the family leader. It’s best not to look directly into the gorillas' eyes, and if they come close, remain calm and quiet. After your visit, you will receive trekking certificates for helping conserve these endangered animals. You will have lunch and then transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Check in at your lodge, have dinner, and stay overnight at the lodge.
